Artist Residency at Artwave August 2013

The town of Ellenville, NY has a wonderful large artist space at 12 Market Street. It is near Cohen's Bakery. This area is a true memory of my early childhood summers when my family stayed at hotels and bungalows. Here it is six decades later and I'm back as a professional artist.  I have exhibited twice previously at Aroma Thyme Bistro around the corner. Please come to the
Open Studio. Free. Light refreshments.
Friday, August 16, 2013, 6-8 PM.
August 3rd I gave a sumi-e workshop.

Happy Holidays and New Year!

As promised I am posting my students work from the New York Botanical Garden, Painting Botanicals in Gouache. Overall they did very well. A few students had taken my class on Nature Science Subjects in Gouache and had more experience. It takes time to know the unique qualities that gouache possesses, how to mix the pigments and manipulate the levels of opacity. I know that in their evaluation responses they wanted to take more classes in the medium. I am still learning how versatile gouache can be.

My sumi-e students also did lovely work this spring and early fall.
They went on a field trip to the New York Botanical Gardens
with me this summer to see the Monet exhibit.
They were inspired by the water lilies and lotus plants.

November 2012 Newsletter

Happy Thanksgiving Season to all.

Thrilled to be back in my art studio with wonderful new vision.

Looking forward to receiving final projects from my students at the New York Botanical Garden. I hope to share some of their work on the blog in the near future. The Gouache techniques for Botanical Subjects was successful and a great follow up to the Gouache techniques for Nature Science Subjects. I had several return students in the course who completed Painting Nature Science subjects in gouache.
