Happy Holidays and New Year!

As promised I am posting my students work from the New York Botanical Garden, Painting Botanicals in Gouache. Overall they did very well. A few students had taken my class on Nature Science Subjects in Gouache and had more experience. It takes time to know the unique qualities that gouache possesses, how to mix the pigments and manipulate the levels of opacity. I know that in their evaluation responses they wanted to take more classes in the medium. I am still learning how versatile gouache can be.

My sumi-e students also did lovely work this spring and early fall.
They went on a field trip to the New York Botanical Gardens
with me this summer to see the Monet exhibit.
They were inspired by the water lilies and lotus plants.
